Or at the very least stop doing what he is currently doing now on ASAP. The problem with Gary V. is that he has not evolved as an artist at all, and he is still singing and dancing 80s music. Also, you cannot age well with the type of musical style he excels in. The best description for Gary V. is that he is a 42-year-old solo boy-band artist with 3 teenage kids. It just doesn’t work.

After watching his solo number on ASAP, I thought: this may have worked 20 years ago, and I would have gladly throw in my underwear on stage along with the underwear of countless screaming teenage girls — but today, he looks like he’s trapped in a time machine, and sadly cannot get out.

In a way, I feel bad since obviously he needs the money to sustain his family, but he could have probably reinvented himself somehow, so he doesn’t look ridiculous every week on TV. I don’t know just how many fans Gary V. has, but clearly he is not going to get young fans. If he’s after the young fans like he did 20 years ago, then he’s just sick. Pandering to 16-year-old girls when you are 42 is just sick. Who’s his target audience anyway?

There’s a short lifespan for the solo singing-dancing male artist — once your teenage fans grow up, you have to adjust. There’s nothing to be proud of that he’s lasted this long — it just means he’s overstayed and refuses to leave. Sinasabayan ba niya si Madonna for some reason?
