Regine Velasquez Watch – Pinoy Pop Superstar Pictures

Regine VelasquezRegine Velasquez

Regine Velasquez uses Robin Padilla as a prop to promote their new movie on Pinoy Pop Superstar.

I don’t know… Robin looks dirty and Regine looks slutty. I probably wouldn’t watch this movie even on DVD.

Note to Regine: Hindi na uso ngayon and singers/actors na nagpapasexy — uso ngayon ang nabubuntis! Although, nalipasan ka na dahil nanganak na sila Angelina, Jennifer, Gwen Stefani, Julia, etc. You’ll just have to wait for the next trend… You know what would be great for you Regine? A new album with great new original Filipino music. Nasaan na ang magagaling na “best in the world” songwriters ng Pilipinas?

GMA Pinoy TV – LIVE!

OMG! Starting in September, some shows on GMA Pinoy TV like SiS, SOP, Eat Bulaga and Pinoy Pop Superstar will be aired in the U.S.A. LIVE! I can’t breathe! (For example, SOP will be aired at 12 AM Sunday, which is perfect since I don’t sleep early anyway…)

Take that ABS-CBN — so tagal-tagal ng TFC ninyo, at pinagmamalaki pa ninyo na nauna kayo, hindi ninyo ito nagawa for North American viewers. It took GMA just one year to figure out that this is exactly what Filipinos who live abroad need — to get the news and live variety shows as they happen.

Naku, hindi na ako matutulog ngayon. Imagine if StarStruck wasn’t delayed here. Instant gratification na tayong lahat. *excited*

Pinoy Dream Academy – Devastating Verdict

Pinoy Dream Academy

First of all, let me make it clear: I am biased for Philippine Idol but I am not anti-anything. American Idol is just my bread and butter reality show over at rickey.org — and I only hope that the Pinoy version Philippine Idol will be a tremendous success as it reflects well on the Idol franchise. That said, I watched ABS-CBN’s “answer” to Philippine Idol, Pinoy Dream Academy over at TFC to see what the competition has to offer.

As a backgrounder, the “Star Academy” franchise from Endemol was a hit in Spain (Operaci?n Triunfo), and this year, ABC in the U.S. picked it up for the Summer and called it The One: Making a Music Star. Of course I watched it (because of one lone cutie), even if everybody hated it — and even it had the lowest debut in history of any new show on the major networks. After just TWO WEEKS, ABC cancelled it — and no one will ever become “The One”.

I doubt that ABS-CBN will cancel Pinoy Dream Academy since they’ve obviously invested heavily on it, but the official Pinoy Rickey verdict is this: PDA is totally unwatchable. Even worse than The One. How they thought they could show this every single night is beyond me. I was totally confused by this show since the “scholars” looked the same (the uniforms didn’t help) and no one stood out, among what? 20? 100? Who knows. Hahaha. It would have helped if there was a cutie, pero there was none. It was just so boooooring. Hasn’t ABS-CBN learned from Endemol that its all about storyline-storyline-storyline? Look at what’s happening in the U.S.-version of Big Brother — it’s absolutely fantastic. Having the franchise alone won’t make something a hit, it’s what you do with it. I really pity the Filipino televiewer if this is the kind of stuff that is shown on TV. Ang panget talaga. Two words: ZERO RECALL.

On another front, I am also partially loyal to Pinoy Pop Superstar, since that is the show that kicked off Pinoy Rickey last year (I was quite impressed before, but unfortunately not now). However, the fact that disqualified Pinoy Pop Superstar contestant Ronnie Liang is in Pinoy Dream Academy is my personal bias icing on the cake. Pinapalabas pa nila na PPS had something to do with Ronnie’s traumatic experience when it was clearly Ronnie’s fault. Tsk tsk. Taking damaged goods like this is so low. (Just like Ethel Booba who is now in Wowowee — hahaha, utang na loob, I guess she needs to work). There’s also reports that one of the PDA contestants was pirated from the Philippine Idol Top 24. Low. Low. Low. Puwede pa sana if the show itself was worth it, pero walang kuwenta.

Good for me, since showing Pinoy Dream Academy in the U.S. has no value, TFC is actually showing it every night. However, it’s pure torture. I now can’t wait for StarStruck 4 to come by kahit napaaga ng konti because of the competitive atmosphere on Philippine TV now. And don’t get me started with Super Inggo… it has Panday-level mediocrity but I’m not going there. I have so many things to do…

Philippine Idol Top 24

Sorry ha, medyo hilo ako ngayon. I don’t know what I’m doing… but somehow, I found this clip of the Philippine Idol Top 24. When did this happen?

Philippine Idol Top 24

My bet is still Ira Marasigan, although I’m rooting for Miguel Mendoza… dahil neighbor namin siya! Hahaha. Biased talaga for no reason. Go Philippine Idol!

OMG I’m so stressed! I need to cover Philippine Idol a bit better — since of course, that’s our franchise — plus, TFC is actually showing Pinoy Dream Academy here in the U.S. (wow, most likely because the U.S. version was cancelled anyway dahil nilangaw after only 2 episodes) and StarStruck Batch 4 will start auditions on Sept. 3 — so soon? — mukhang the pressure of PI and PDA was too great for GMA not have a talent of show of their own running. Waaaa — sige, let’s pull our resources together ha, mga Kaisip. At tama na ang away. Sino yung nag-bo-blood feud dito while I was gone? Hahaha. You cannot start a war here without my consent. LOL. Peace, mga kaisip! There’s too much fighting in the world.

Program Advisory

Mga Kaisip: I’m going on vacation from Friday-Monday, so there will be no updates this weekend. I will not be able to record anything unfortunately, so I’ll just have to make it up to you guys next week. Kuwento niyo na lang sa akin kung merong nangyari, etc. Have a good weekend! Avisala!
