Parang sirang plaka, sumayaw na naman ang Pinoy Big Brother cast sa ASAP to the tune of Pinoy Ako. Although in fairness, it’s almost like watching Rainier and Yasmien do their dance numbers on SOP Gigsters so siguro ok lang to let them have their fun. Cute naman si Sam. He has still not worn his welcome.

However this show still goes against every Big Brother-like show I’ve seen here in the U.S. This is the first time Big Brother was used as a “talent-search”. In fact, all the housemates are slated to star in their own drama series on ABS-CBN. Ano yon, nakakontrata na silang lahat? — for acting pa ha — so mga actors sila, not just normal Filipinos you can find on the street who would most likely have other talents and not just acting.

If I was Nene, I would take the money and leave. Bakit pa ako magpapagamit sa ABS-CBN? If she wanted, she can use her new found fame (and fortune) to raise awareness for social issues and help the public by being a role model — she can even get endorsements. She doesn’t need to entertain the people and be continually exploited. It’s the only logical thing for the winner to do — unless of course naka-kontrata na siya and she has no choice but to continue to become a talent of ABS-CBN.

It’s not really a contest if you are forced to work for the company which gave you the prize. (Pag nanalo ka ba ng sweepstakes kailangan mong magtrabo sa PCSO?) ABS-CBN needs to be more forthcoming. This is such a joke. If you won 6 million pesos you should be able to do what you want, including NOT work. If Nene is truly independent of ABS-CBN, she should entertain offers from other networks for her services, if she really wanted to get into showbiz/news. If not, ABS-CBN should clearly state that the winner of PBB has an obligation to work for ABS-CBN for a set number of time — that’s the “prize”, not “just 6 million”.

Over here, the American idol contestants (which are clearly in a talent/popularity contest) are already complaing about the 6-month “holding period” that the producers have on them. They cannot sign with any recording studio for at least 6 months after the show, if you did not win — which almost nullifies your chances of landing any contract because after 6-months you’re old news.

The 2 things wrong with Pinoy Big Brother is, it’s not even supposed to be a talent contest, and then the way they treat their “talents” is abusive. Ano na ang mangyayari pag hindi na kaya ni Franzen sumayaw sa ASAP? And what will ABS-CBN do kung ayaw talagang pumatok sa tao si Jenny? They are now stuck with a talent which is useless and dead weight.

Lumaban sa mga abusadong mga korporasyon! Ipaglaban ang karapatan ng manggagawang Pilipino! Ibagsak ang mga imperyalista! Makibaka! Huwag matakot! Mabuhay ang Iskolar ng Bayan! Jah! Wor! Skee! Jah! Wor! Skee!
