DTI, Senate urged to probe ‘Wowowee’ contest row (GMA News)

An organization calling itself the “Tanglaw ng Bayan” has urged the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Senate to probe the alleged rigging of a game segment on ABS-CBN’s variety show, “Wowowee.”

The group on Friday faxed to radio station dzBB their letter addressed to DTI Secretary Peter Favila dated August 27 this year.

Also on Friday, radio station dzBB reported that the group’s spokesman Bayani Santos Jr delivered a similar letter to the office of Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, chair of the Senate trade and commerce committee.

Joey tells Willie: Explain before you complain (GMA News)

Comedian Joey de Leon on Thursday scored Willie Revillame, host of the ABS-CBN variety show “Wowowee”, for resorting to personal attacks to dodge questions about alleged cheating in the program’s game segment.

“Explain before you complain,” De Leon said several times, even prompting the Eat Bulaga live audience to recite the line.

Nahuli kasi sa pandaraya. And in this age of YouTube, huling-huli. At dahil hindi nila alam depensahan ang sarili, personal na agad ang usapan. Ano naman ang kinalaman ni Joey de Leon sa scandal na ito ano? Bakit hindi ako ang awayin ni Willie at si Joey lang? Wala namang sinabi si Joey na nandaya sila — ako mismo nagsabi na nandaya sila — bakit hindi umiyak (without tears) si Willie tungkol sa akin?

Guilty. Sana makita ng mga nabulag na fans niyo ang tutoong kulay niyo.

Wowowee host Willie Revillame got very emotional as he shared his true feelings about the “Wilyonaryo” controversy and Joey de Leon’s constant remarks about the issue. Joey is one of the main hosts of Eat Bulaga! on GMA-7, Wowowee’s rival program.

Willie seemed to lose control of himself and he blurted out, “Sa mga taong may sakit, kayo lang iniisip ko, off-cam, kahit walang camera, ano ginagawa namin dito? Tumutulong pa rin kami!”

Willie’s frustration was evident as he addressed Joey and the frequent remarks of the latter concerning the scandal. The exasperation of his voice showed how irritated he was with Joey.

“Ikaw na ang bida, ikaw na ang number one, sa iyo na ang ratings, ikaw na! Sige, Eat Bulaga! na ang number one!” Willie cried out.

Anong klaseng tulong ‘yan. It’s a game show. I think Willie has brainwashed himself as to what he is really doing. Wowowee exists for profit. The best way to help the Filipino people is not to run a bogus million peso game, but to educate the poor, give them medical assistance. By running a game show like this, you are making them rely on luck and miracles. Walang himala.

What a load of bullshit.
