This week’s Pinoy Pop Superstar winner, Danny Laureano, shares the name of a former co-worker’s husband which was uncanny. I’m sure they would be thrilled that this kid has his name.

I also noticed that the contestants were very young. Yikes. They looked like babies. It was a bit surreal. Danny however belted it out magnificently and as a tribute I am giving him the American Idol treatment with this Quicktime video:

He also cried in the end, which basically just sold it for me. He needs to be the champion for four weeks to reach the finals, so let’s hope he continues his streak next week.

    dan used to be the lead vocals for a band called liquid apples but gave it up for pinoy pop. we used to catch their gig every friday at panay kalipay at baywalk. he’s got a powerfull voice. his performance last saturday was actually disappointing, believe me, he could have done better.

    I’ve watched Dan perform in Enchanted Kingdom last April (with 4 other weekly champs), I was really amazed by his performance. It’s good that the judges favored him over Gerald. It was obvious that he outshone the defending champion. He deserves to be in the finals.

    i dont know what happened .. but danny laureano was a clear winner .. showmanship … voice quality … originality … emotions .. what else could u ask for … complete package .. i hope the judges can explain their decision .. and to danny, there’ll be far more better opportunities out there .. d pa man … im already a fan of your voice and style bhro …

    danny is by far the best male singer to ever join pinoy pop… paos yata siya nung time na yan…pero if i were the judges, i wud still choose danny over magella(majella?)…he had more potentials and not to mention the star appeal…hehe…

    I am from Vancouver, Canada and so far we have about 1 month delayed telecast of the Pinoy Pop Superstar. I was flipping channels and I watched the episode when Danny beat Gerald (Danny sung Change the World). I was watching Danny sing and I got goose bumps coz he performed like a PRO and he is a very effective performer. He also won me over when he cried when he beat Gerald. After that, I then searched in the internet where I could see his video again. I was lucky to find this site.
    Rickey, If I may request one thing: Could you also please make available the VIDEO when Danny was announced WINNER (over GERALD) and when he started to cry while performing? PLease….I love to watch him AGAIN AND AGAIN…..

    ware watching that night kaya na-shock din kami.you’re the best than that na nakatungali mo.we do hope makapagperform ka uli just like the other contestant.whatever,we are just at the other part of the philippines but you’re our number one.i was singing also that time when i’m watching.kahit busy ko with my review pero i passed it!     i was astonished with the talent of danny then nagulat ako ng bigla siyang natanggal eventhough mas magaling siya dun sa nakatalo sa kanya! tsk! sana makabalik pa siya… di alam ng PPS kung ano nawala sa kanila… mas gaganda ang laban sa finals pag nakasama si danny.. magiging aicelle versus danny yan haha!

    Isa rin ako sa napahanga ng todo ni Danny at sobrang bad trip sa mga old-school judges ng PPS. Kung ako tatanungin tungkol sa pagkatalo ni Danny, sinadya yung ng mga judges lalo na’t natalo agad yung bet nila. :(

    Kuya Rickey, ngaun ko Lng nabasa mga threads mo bout Pinoy Pop Superstar!… Im so devastated din nung ndi ko na nkita si Danny Laureano the other week Last yr! He really has a unique voice. I really like nga the way na may piyok piyok na maLa Mariah ang style na my pgka Brian Adams ang voice nia! getz niO?!hehe.. Bsta kainis!… Mga gusto ko Lng na finalist are Aicelle and Irra. Uhm 2nd c Gerald cguro!hehe.. Ayaw ata ni Jaya ky Danny at ang gusto nia si Majella. Kya nga Last saturday diba sbi ni Jaya na She was so disappointed ky majella dahil 2nd chance na nila e2 tpos naramdaman nia ung nerves ni Majella while singing!..
